Flaming Lips concert
Last week The Flaming Lips played at the Tivoli concert hall in Copenhagen and I was lucky enough to be there. The music was amazing, but that was just half the experience. With them on stage, the band had about 20 fans, all dancing, some dressed up as Santa Claus some as Mars men, all equipped with giant flashlights. When the show started, about a hundred huge red balloons were thrown at the audience, and most of them kept bouncing through the entire concert. They used confetti cannons, portable smoke machines and fake blood. In the ceiling wass the biggest disco ball I've seen in my life. It probably all seems a bit weird - which it was - but it was also absolutely amazing. I guess you have to see some photos to get a feeling of what it's all about. During the concert, lead singer Wayne Coyne said that the purpose of the show is to make people happy. I think that's a great purpose and they definitely succeeded. The only thing I would have liked to see was the legendary crowdsurfing balloon. :-) Check out the Flaming Lips website, where you can hear their new album (yup, all of it, and the sound quality is good) and find lots of other goodies.
